Imagine a man who is drowning in the middle of a deep ocean. He is struggling to stay alive. He kicks harder, waves his hands, and desperately tries to swim towards safety. But the more he struggles, the more exhausted he becomes. He knows he is sinking, but he cannot save himself.

Now imagine someone on a rescue boat sees him. The rescuer immediately jumps into the water, swims towards him, and stretches out his hand.

At that moment, the drowning man has two choices: he can continue struggling in his own strength, or he can acknowledge that he needs help and take the rescuer's hand.

This is a picture of humanity's condition, and God's amazing love.

1. DOES GOD REALLY EXIST?

Have you ever looked at the beauty of nature, the vastness of the heavens, the complexity of the human body, or the order of creation and wondered whether there is a Creator behind it all?

Does God really exist?

The Bible gives us a clear answer.

Romans 1:20 (NIV)

“For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

Creation itself points to the existence of a Creator. The sun, moon, stars, oceans, mountains, trees, animals, and the very breath in our lungs testify to the greatness of God.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

God is not an invention of human imagination. He is the Creator of the universe, the giver of life, and the source of everything that exists.

The Bible also says:

Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

God existed before everything we see. He is eternal, sovereign, and independent of creation.

But knowing that God exists is not the same as knowing Him personally. God does not merely want you to acknowledge His existence; He desires a relationship with you.

And this brings us to an important question: If God created us, why are so many people separated from Him?

2. GOD IS HOLY

Before we can understand the depth of God's love, we must understand His holiness.

God is perfectly holy. There is no darkness, wickedness, or sin in Him. His character is pure, and His standards are perfect.

1 Peter 1:15–16 (NIV)

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”

Habakkuk 1:13 (NIV)

“Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing.”

God created humanity to live in fellowship with Him. In the beginning, Adam and Eve enjoyed an unhindered relationship with their Creator. There was no separation, shame, or death.

However, something happened.

Humanity disobeyed God, and sin entered the world.

3. THE PROBLEM: SIN HAS SEPARATED US FROM GOD

Sin is not simply making mistakes, telling lies, stealing, or doing things society considers wrong. Sin is rebellion against God's perfect standard. It is anything that falls short of His holiness.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, sin entered the human experience, and death followed.

Genesis 2:16–17 (NIV)

“And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.’”

Their disobedience brought spiritual separation from God and introduced physical death into human existence.

The consequences of that disobedience extend to all humanity.

Romans 5:12 (NIV)

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.”

The Bible makes our condition very clear:

Romans 3:23 (NIV)

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Notice the word ALL.

It includes the rich and poor, educated and uneducated, religious and non-religious, young and old. Nobody is naturally exempt from sin.

You may consider yourself a good person. You may give to the poor, help the needy, respect your parents, love your neighbours, and live an honest life.

These are commendable things. However, none of them can erase your sin or make you perfectly righteous before a holy God.

Isaiah 64:6 (NIV)

“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags.”

This is the problem with humanity: We cannot save ourselves.

No amount of good works, religious activities, charitable donations, human achievements, or personal efforts can purchase eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

We have a problem that we cannot solve by ourselves.

And the consequence of sin is serious.

Romans 6:23 (NIV)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The wages of sin is death. This is not merely the end of physical existence; it also points to eternal separation from God.

But there is good news!

4. THE GOOD NEWS: GOD LOVES YOU!

Here is the most beautiful part of this message.

Although humanity rebelled against God, God did not abandon humanity.

Although we sinned, He still loved us.

Although we were separated from Him, He made a way for us to return.

John 3:16 (NIV)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Read that verse again.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD!

The love of God is not based on your financial status, educational qualifications, nationality, family background, achievements, or social standing.

He loves you.

He knows your past, your struggles, your failures, your weaknesses, and even the things you have never told anyone.

Yet He still loves you.

God did not wait for humanity to become perfect before making a provision for salvation. He demonstrated His love while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8 (NIV)

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Think about that!

You did not have to become righteous before Jesus died for you. You did not have to clean yourself up before He offered you salvation.

He came because we needed Him.

God's answer to humanity's problem was not another religion, another set of rules, or another human philosophy.

His answer was JESUS CHRIST.

5. JESUS CHRIST: THE ONLY WAY TO SALVATION

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came into the world to save humanity from sin.

He was not merely a good teacher, a prophet, or a religious leader. He is the Saviour of the world.

He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, healed the sick, raised the dead, preached the Kingdom of God, and revealed the Father's love to humanity.

Yet His greatest mission was to die for our sins and rise again.

John 1:29 (NIV)

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’”

In the Old Testament, sacrifices were offered for sin. However, these sacrifices pointed towards the perfect sacrifice that was to come.

Jesus became the ultimate sacrificial Lamb.

He took our place.

He carried our sins.

He suffered the punishment we deserved.

He shed His blood so that we could be reconciled to God.

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

At the cross, Jesus demonstrated the greatest expression of love humanity has ever known.

He was mocked, beaten, rejected, and crucified. He died, was buried, and on the third day, He rose again!

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NIV)

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”

The resurrection is central to the Christian faith. Jesus did not remain in the grave. He conquered death!

His resurrection gives us hope that death does not have the final word.

Through His death and resurrection, the way back to God has been opened.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Jesus paid the price.

You do not have to pay it again.

You do not have to search for another Saviour.

Acts 4:12 (NIV)

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Jesus Himself declared:

John 14:6 (NIV)

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

There are many religions, philosophies, beliefs, and human traditions in the world. But the Bible presents Jesus Christ as the only way to the Father.

It does not matter what your background has been. Whether you come from a Christian, Islamic, traditional, Buddhist, or any other religious background, God's invitation is extended to you.

He is calling you to Himself through Jesus Christ.

6. SALVATION IS A GIFT. WILL YOU RECEIVE IT?

One of the greatest mistakes people make is believing that they must first become good enough before coming to Jesus.

Some people think they are too sinful to be forgiven.

Others believe they have made too many mistakes.

Some feel ashamed of their past, while others think God cannot possibly accept someone like them.

But that is precisely why Jesus came!

Luke 19:10 (NIV)

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Jesus did not come for people who believe they have no need for Him. He came to save those who recognise their need for salvation.

Consider the thief who was crucified beside Jesus. He had lived a sinful life and was facing death. Yet, in his final moments, he turned to Jesus in faith.

Luke 23:42–43 (NIV)

“Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ Jesus answered him, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.’”

What a powerful demonstration of God's grace!

The man had no opportunity to perform religious activities, make restitution for everything he had done, or demonstrate a lifetime of good works.

He simply placed his faith in Jesus.

And Jesus received him.

This does not mean we should continue living in sin deliberately. Genuine salvation brings a transformed life and a new relationship with God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

When you receive Jesus, you begin a new life. Your past no longer defines your identity. You become a child of God.

John 1:12 (NIV)

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Salvation is available to you today.

But you must personally respond to God's invitation.

7. HOW CAN YOU BE SAVED?

You may now be asking: What must I do to receive Jesus Christ?

The Bible gives us a clear answer.

Romans 10:9–10 (NIV)

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Salvation involves responding to the gospel in faith.

Here are three important steps:

1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner.

Recognise that you have fallen short of God's standard and that you cannot save yourself.

2. Believe in Jesus Christ.

Believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Trust Him as your personal Saviour.

3. Confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Surrender your life to Him. Receive Him by faith and begin a new life of obedience to God's Word.

You do not need to wait until tomorrow.

You do not need to wait until you become perfect.

Come to Him as you are, and allow His grace to transform you.

Hebrews 3:15 (NIV)

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Jesus is calling.

Will you open the door?

8. SAY THIS PRAYER AND RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST

If you believe in Jesus Christ and desire to receive Him as your Lord and Saviour, you can express your faith in prayer.

Understand that it is not the repetition of words that saves you. Salvation comes through genuine faith in Jesus Christ. This prayer is an expression of your decision to trust and surrender your life to Him.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today acknowledging that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself.

I believe that You love me and that You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins.

I believe that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

Today, I repent of my sins and turn away from my old life. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I receive Him into my life by faith.

Lord Jesus, forgive me, cleanse me, and make me a new creation. Wash me with Your precious blood and help me to live a life that pleases You.

Thank You for loving me, saving me, and giving me the gift of eternal life.

From today, I surrender my life to You. Teach me Your Word, guide my steps, and help me grow in faith.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

AMEN!

9. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW A CHILD OF GOD!

If you have genuinely placed your faith in Jesus Christ, repented of your sins, and received Him as your Lord and Saviour, rejoice!

You have responded to God's invitation of salvation.

You are now a child of God, and you have received the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Your decision to follow Jesus is the beginning of a new journey.

You need to grow in your relationship with God. Read the Bible, pray regularly, fellowship with other believers, and become part of a Bible-believing church where you can be taught and nurtured in the Word of God.

Do not allow your past to hold you back. Do not allow condemnation to silence your faith.

When you stumble, return to God. When you are weak, depend on His strength. When you have questions, seek answers from His Word.

Remember:

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Jesus Christ is coming again. Live every day with faith, hope, and the expectation of His return.

10. ONE FINAL QUESTION: WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH JESUS?

You have read about God's existence.

You have understood His holiness.

You have discovered the problem of sin.

You have encountered the greatest demonstration of divine love through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

And now, the decision is yours.

You can close this article and continue with your daily activities as though nothing has happened.

Or you can respond to God's invitation and begin a new life with Jesus Christ.

Do not allow pride, fear, shame, religious background, or the mistakes of your past to keep you away from Him.

God is not asking you to earn His love. He is inviting you to receive His grace.

There is no sin too great for His forgiveness when you genuinely repent and turn to Him.

There is no past too broken for His redemption.

There is no life beyond the reach of His saving power.

Titus 2:11 (NIV)

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.”

And remember the words of Jesus:

John 6:37 (NIV)

“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”

He will not turn you away when you genuinely come to Him.

GOD LOVES YOU!

You are not forgotten. You are not beyond redemption. You are not too far gone.

Jesus Christ died for you.

He rose again for you.

And through Him, you can have eternal life.
